As I'm a quite spiritual person myself I was a little bit frightened about what I would experience but I have to say it was one of the greatest nights of my life.
For those of you that don't know the history of Loftus Hall I will give you a brief history lesson here and then leave some links that you can follow to get more in depth articles.
It all started back in 1350 when the Redmond family built the house, after a while the house was taken over by the Loftus family in 1650s and it's then the weird happenings began.
Legend has it that one stormy night a ship arrived at the Hook Peninsula which was not far from the mansion. On the ship was a tall, dark handsome man and seeing as though it was such a miserable night the man began searching for a place to stay. After arriving at Loftus Hall he was invited into the house. The daughter of the family Anne and the stranger became very close and she fell pregnant his child. One night as the family and the stranger were playing cards Anne bent down to pick up a card she dropped under the table and noticed that he had hooves for feet.
As Anne started screaming the man shot up through the roof leaving a large hole in the roof that to this day cannot be fixed.
Anne soon became mentally ill after he child was taken from her and murdered, she was then locked away in the mansion and her spirit is said to still lurk in the house.

The fun began on Thursday night when myself and four of my best friends Karen, Crellin, Annmarie and Aisling decided to brave the adult Halloween tour at 11:30 pm, are we brave or stupid? you decide?
I'll never forget the feeling when I saw the house in the distance, I got chills and goose pimples it was an amazing feeling. So much excitement and fear, it's what I live for and I just knew the night was going to be great.
We parked at the back of the house which is where you enter and they have a great little cafe where you can get lunches during the day or cakes, we got a cup of tea and began our wait for the 11:30 tour. There was quite a delay as we didn't begin our tour until gone 12 but the cafe is great and they do have some entertainment while you're waiting.
When it was time for us to go on the tour I was bricking it, I had the worst dose of nervous giggles and I just did not know what I was about to encounter. It wasn't at all as I expected, I was expecting a tour of the house that was much more serious however they actually act out the scenes in the different rooms which was a million times more entertaining, although part of me still wishes it was a little bit more serious which I'm sure the paranormal lock down will be (the paranormal lock down is sold out however...or else I'd be there believe me!!)
The first hall we came too had the stairs where two nuns had fell to their death, I got such a weird feeling around these stairs and having watched the episode of Ghost Adventurers where they actually go to Loftus I knew all about the stairs so this made it all that little bit spookier for me.
On the tour we were brought to all the rooms that you'd want to visit, the chapel (which almost finished me off I'm not gonna lie) the tapestry room and the room where it all happened, the card room where you can clearly see the hole in the roof where the devil went through.
The characters you'd meet were brilliant, the actors were fantastic and made you believe that they were
actually there in that time and were back telling you the story. I felt at such ease but at the same time I was terrified. I could go on and on for days about how amazing it was but I'm trying to keep this post short and sweet.
Overall I had one of the greatest experiences of my life and would recommend everyone goes and visits Loftus Hall. It is scary, so be prepared but also go in with an open mind. Realise that you are in a house that has spirits and is packed with history and culture so don't go trying to be cool embrace the feeling and enjoy it.
